The typical markings include the following:
Generally made of a few different metals from the platinum group.
Abbreviations: Pt or Plat – usually 950 Platinum
Combinations: 850 Pt 150 Ir (Iridium) or 85 Plat Irid etc.

9k, 9kt, 10k, 10kt, 14k , 14kt, 18k, 18kt, 22k, 22kt, 24k 24kt
EUROPEAN:
375 (9 karats), 417 (10 karats), 500 (12 karats), 583 (14 karats),
750 (18 karats), 917 (22 karats) 999 (24 karats)
925 Sterling / 800 Sterling
Please DO NOT send non-Gold or Gold Filled or Plated items with markings such as:
HGE – Heavy Gold Electroplate
GF – Gold Filled
GP – Gold Plated
GS – Gold Shell
RGT – Rolled Gold Plate
EPNS – Electroplated Nickel Silver
The above items have such a small amount of gold content that they do not have any market value. Do not waste your time and money to send these items with such markings.
It is very easy to send in your unwanted jewellery, gold dental pieces etc. Just follow these simple steps:
1) Fill out the >>Gold Edge Form<<. Provide your contact information, a list of the number of pieces you are sending to us, referral information and please also provide your signature.
2) Place your items, together with the completed >>Gold Edge Form<<, in a bubble or padded bag (TIP: place your items in a secured bag or small box first with THE GOLD EDGE form, then place the entire package in the bubbled or padded bag so it will not tear open).
3) Should you have more than 5 items, we strongly recommend that you send your items using a reputable courier service such as Canada Post, DHL etc. to ensure you have access to a tracking system and you have adequate insurance coverage. Your full postage will be reimbursed. Courier costs will only be reimbursed for the used gold that is send out valued at $200 or more.
Once your shipment is received by our office, we will catalogue and take a photo of your items as received (dental gold will be cleaned prior to photo) for the purpose of confirmation of receipt and tracking. We will stamp the date we received your package and this will be the date we will use to assess your items.
Please note,
that we will not accept any packages that appear to have been tampered with on route.
Next, we will evaluate and weigh your items to determine the value. The value will be based on THE GOLD EDGE PRICE LIST which reflects the daily market prices of gold, platinum, palladium and silver. All respective payments will be made in Canadian dollars only.
Once the value is confirmed, we will forward your cheque to you with a letter of confirmation/evaluation via the postal services. If you provide an email address, we can forward you the confirmation/evaluation information in advance however, the cheque will be sent to you with a copy of the confirmation/evaluation letter.

The Gold Edge pays competitive market rates for your used dental gold and jewellery.
The value of your jewellery is based on the quality and quantity of the gold you send in. We will evaluate the content of your used gold jewellery using the karats indicated on each item, which provides the percentage of gold contained in that item. For example, 10kt contains 41.6% of gold whereas 18kt contains 75% of gold. Finally, we calculate the weight of your gold. Payment is made on THE GOLD EDGE PRICE LIST. This price list reflects precious metal prices and will fluctuate daily according to the market conditions. Please call us for the current Gold Edge price list.
Do note that some sites quote in DWT (pennyweight) which is equal to 1.55 grams to make the price appear higher for you. Other use prices based on specific weight allotments. Please ensure when comparing prices that they are equivalent. There should be no additional or hidden fees. They should include free pick-up where requested/appropriate.
When you send in your used precious items, your payment will be based on THE GOLD EDGE PRICE LIST based on the day we receive your package at our office.
The value of dental gold, such as gold crowns, gold and porcelain bridges, gold implants etc, is based on weight, colour and appearance of the items sent.
Do note that some sites quote prices for dental gold then deduct a percentage amount for the teeth/porcelain attached etc. which does not truly reflect industry averages. Others will indicate the price per gram for an allotment of gold, but this does not reflect the actual quality of dental gold you possess. Each batch of dental gold is different and should be assessed individually. We will be pleased to show you how the process works and where you can get the best cash payment results.

Emilia was raised in a small town in Ontario and after high school she moved to Toronto where she received an honors degree in Business Management from Ryerson University.
Upon receiving her degree she worked with two major Toronto financial institutions and, after almost 10 years, decided to move to Europe to obtain a different business perspective. Remaining in Europe for 18 years, she worked in a few major international corporations as a human resource executive.
